Ingredients:

For the Dumplings:

2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 can (12 oz) Mountain Dew or other lemon-lime soda
For the Sauce:

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

Cut each apple into 8 wedges. Roll each apple wedge in a crescent roll dough triangle, starting at the wider end and rolling toward the narrower end. Place the rolled dumplings in the prepared baking dish.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined. Pour the butter mixture over the dumplings in the baking dish.

In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon for the sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved. Pour the sauce over the dumplings.

Pour the can of Mountain Dew around the edges of the baking dish, not over the dumplings directly.

Bake the dumplings in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.

Serve the dumplings warm, either on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Enjoy your delicious Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings!
